Danny Mercer lives in the suburbs outside Columbus, Ohio, with his wife and three kids: two boys, ages 3 and 6, and a 9-year-old daughter. Half the garage belongs to the family cars. The other half belongs to ride-ons, balance bikes, and whatever wheeled thing the kids are currently arguing over.
With three kids at different stages, nothing at Danny's house gets tested just once. The balance bike the 6-year-old outgrows gets handed straight down to the 3-year-old, and by then Danny knows exactly which welds held, which stickers peeled, and whether the "easy assembly" on the box was telling the truth. That hand-me-down cycle is the backbone of his reviews. He isn't guessing how a toy holds up after a year of use; he's watched it happen.
Danny covers the practical questions parents actually have before a big purchase: how long a ride-on battery really lasts, whether a train set's track connections survive a toddler, how much storage space a set eats up, and which toys still get played with once the birthday-week glow wears off. And because it's Ohio, everything outdoor gets the winter test whether he plans it or not.
His rule of thumb is simple: if it survives his driveway, it'll survive yours.
